Going to Lagoon
About two years ago, the band made plans to go to Lagoon to have a class field trip. I was excited to go because it would be my first time going to Lagoon. I was also a little worried because I hadn’t gone on many roller coasters in my life, but I decided I still wanted to go.
On the bus ride to Lagoon, my buddies Masen and Salvador both said that we should go on Cannibal first, so we didn’t have to wait in the line long. Both of them said it was the best ride at Lagoon and said that I had to ride it since it was so fun.
I was determined to ride it until I asked Masen and Salvador what the scariest ride was at Lagoon, and they both replied, “Cannibal.”
This sapped my enthusiasm for the ride and I hadn’t even seen it yet.
“I don’t know if I want to go on the scariest roller coaster to start off the day,” I said.
“It’s not that bad,” replied Masen. “It will be fun; don’t worry.”
“I will think about it. I need to see it first.”
When we got there, I immediately knew which ride Cannibal was. It was a tower so tall I could barely see the top. I watched a group of people go on the ride, and I was having second thoughts about saying I was going to go. The ride went up the tower, then it dropped out of the building going straight down. There were a bunch of loops and other parts of the ride that looked scary.
Masen came over to me and asked, “Well, are you coming with us?”
I turned and looked at him and said, “What the heck; let’s go.”
We got in line and we figured out who was in our ride. The ride holds 6 people- it was going to be Masen, Salvador, Tony, Braden, Megan, and me. I was going to sit in the back middle.
As soon as I got on the ride, my heart started pounding. The ride went up into a tower, and the doors opened up. I could see all across Salt Lake City. Then, the ride began; we went straight down and through a bunch of loops and other scary things. When we went down the first drop out of the tower I just held my breath and closed my eyes. Once I felt us slow down I opened my eyes and we were upside down and I started to smile because I actually liked it.
When the ride was over, Masen asked, “How did you like it?”
“I loved it; it was really fun.”
“That’s good. Want to go on the other rides?”
“Heck yeah!”
I thought I had made a horrible mistake when I got on the roller coaster, but after it was all over, I had a blast and had to the urge to go on more.
“Hey, Jeremy. Do you want to go on Wicked?” asked Salvador.
I replied, “Yeah I do; I like roller coasters now.”
I ended up going on all the roller coasters at Lagoon. Cannibal, Wicked, the old wooden one, and a bunch more. I think my favorite one was Wicked. I was glad I went on the scariest one first, that way I didn’t have to worry about how scary all the other rides were. I had lots of fun that day and hope to go back sometime.
